Standard 5-Step Installation

Follow these best practices to ensure a level, stable, and durable raised floor using TA Series pedestals.

1

Spread Adhesive & Place Tile

Apply the thin-set mortar using a notched trowel. For large format tiles, back-buttering is highly recommended to ensure 100% coverage. Place the first tile firmly into position.

Pro TipAlways ensure the edges of the tiles are clean of excess mortar before inserting the clips to avoid curing issues.

2

Insert the Clips (Spacers)

Slide the base of the leveling clips under the tile. Position them approximately 50mm (2 inches) from each corner. For longer tiles, add additional clips along the center of the edge.

Pro TipCheck our 'Coverage Chart' in the download section to calculate the exact number of clips needed per square meter based on your tile size.

3

Place Adjacent Tile & Insert Wedges

Lay the adjacent tile snugly against the clips. Push the reusable wedges through the hole in the clips. Push firmly until the two tiles align perfectly at the same level.

Pro TipUse the Taurus adjustable installation pliers to apply consistent pressure. This prevents hand fatigue and avoids snapping the clips prematurely.

4

Allow Mortar to Cure

Leave the clips and wedges in place while the thin-set mortar fully cures. Do not walk heavily on the tiles or attempt to remove the leveling system during this drying phase.

Pro TipFollow the thin-set manufacturer’s recommended curing time, typically 24 hours for standard settings.

5

Kick Off to Remove

Once the mortar is completely dry, remove the system by kicking the clips with your work boot or striking them with a rubber mallet. The clips will snap cleanly at the base.

Pro TipCrucial: Always strike parallel to the grout joint. Never hit them perpendicularly, as this may leave plastic residue above the grout line.
